We are house of worship
“Worshiping together teaches us to submit and surrender all our cares to God – our priorities, plans, hopes, dreams, and even our fears.”
Our Past
The Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church was set-aside in the home of Sister Bertha Crawford, 1015 W. Cumberland Street on May 29, 1954. The Late Rev. Q. Davis was the Pastor and Founder of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. The original members were:
Deacon Louis Gaines
Sister Bertha Crawford
Deacon Ernest Davis
Sister Margie Gaines
Sister Irene Davis
Sister Brown
Mother Bertha Green
Five years from the date of the organization of the church the Lord moved in a marvelous way and the Pastor, Officers and members were blessed to purchase the premises now occupied at Twenty-First and Cecil B. Moore Avenue.
The Lord continued to add to the church daily. During Rev. Davis’ leadership a State Funded Day Care Center was operated at Macedonia, a Boy Scout Group was active at Macedonia. Youth activities were held focusing on enhancing the spiritual, physical and mental development of the youth of Macedonia and the youth of the community
After twenty-seven years God saw fit to call him from labor to reward. He departed this life on June 16, 1980.
The Present
February 9, 1996 Rev. Gary A. Dunlap, Sr. was appointed as Pastor of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church.
Many souls have been added to Macedonia under the leadership of Rev. Dunlap. He continues to challenge our hearts with messages from on high. His motto is: “We Want You Saved”. January 2021 God has blessed Macedonia with a new building; located at 6547 N. 7th Street Philadelphia PA 19126. New Choirs have been created and new officers have been elected as the church continues to pursue its ultimate goal, which is to spread the word of Jesus Christ to the community. Rev Dunlap is committed to the revitalization of Macedonia
In the past Macedonia operated tuition free summer camps, and various activities dedicated to ministering to the community. In the coming years Pastor Dunlap wants Macedonia to be able to address all the needs of the Church membership and the Philadelphia community.
